Ministries
We have a variety of ministries to help
develop Christ-followers on their journeys. Each ministry is listed
and described briefly with an email link to the appropriate member
of the leadership team. Feel free to email for more detailed information
on the specified area.
Teaching, Pastoral Care, and Leadership
Development
Our teaching is based squarely on the Bible
and designed to be relevant to life. We use a variety of multimedia
resources to communicate God’s Word. Our aim is to express
God’s love and to challenge Christ-followers to live deliberately
in our culture. Through this, we equip the members of our gathering
to minister effectively where God has placed them.
Sometimes people need someone to be a
tangible representation of God’s care. Our gathering,
and our leadership team specifically, is committed to caring
for people. If you need prayer or need to talk with someone
about an issue in your life, please email the need to the address
below or call (423) 476-3219.
Leadership is everyone’s business,
especially in the body of Christ. Leadership is not something
that resides solely in a few great people. If you are interested
in our leadership development resources—particularly
the leadership development workbook edited by one of our
pastors and written by several of the people in our gathering
called Leadership for Life - contact us through the
email below. We also offer a limited number of slots for leadership
development mentoring.
Music
Our worship is characterized
by modern worship music. Lyrics are clearly projected for corporate
worship. Our band uses a variety of instruments. If you
are interested in being a part, email the address below.
Service
We have a two-pronged service approach. We offer periodic hands-on
opportunities for the entire gathering. Examples from the past
are nursing home visitations, playground cleanup, yard cleaning,
food to local school staff and students, and fall festival
assistance. We are active in supporting members of our gathering
in overseas and traveling outreach opportunities.
In addition, we partner with the local
Haven Place Community Youth Center to assist them in reaching
out to the teens in the area.
Small Groups
We offer a variety of small
groups to help the people in our gathering experience life together.
Most people find themselves caught between wanting to have meaningful
relationships and struggling to find the time. To develop these
relationships, it's important to get involved with a small group
of about 8-12 people who meet, most often, a few times a month.
In these small groups you begin to "live life" with
each other, have the freedom to ask questions about God, and
have the opportunity to grow in your understanding of Him.
Most small groups do the following things:
- Worship, learn, and grow spiritually
- Have fun together (talking, playing
games, etc.)
- Support and pray for one another
- Reach out to their communities
- Discover how each person is a vital
part of today's church
Some small groups meet for other purposes.
For example, some small groups meet for a limited time to complete
specific tasks like book reviews, while others are based on function
(i.e., involvement in a certain ministry).
Hospitality
When
you come to a Christ Community service, we want you to experience
our community and hospitality. As you enter, we want you to
enjoy coffee and refreshments and take time to hang out or
simply spend some time in reflection. We offer a gift to our
first-time visitors as a token of our appreciation for your
visit. Please visit the Welcome Table to complete your visit.
Havenplace
Havenplace is a community youth center designed to reach out
to the young people of Cleveland. This outreach operates from
8:00 until 11:00 p.m. each Saturday through Thursday evening.
Each Wednesday volunteers from Christ Community staff the center
to simply hang out with those coming by the center. A typical
evening consists of free games and food and sodas. If you’d
like to volunteer, contact Tony Simmons.
Finance
Giving of our resources is a vital
part of following Christ. We encourage the members of our gathering
to give to Christ Community so we can accomplish our mission
corporately. The basket for giving is located at our Welcome
Table. We provide monthly financial reports at the basket. In
addition, we hold quarterly financial meetings. Our policy is
to fully
disclose the gathering’s financial activity.
Recordings of Services
We record each service and make these
available for download on our website. CDs are also available for
a small fee to cover expenses. In addition, when we present a
series of talks, we offer the series at a reduced rate.
Unfortunately, our recording equipment is
temporarily out of order, but we hope to have this service available
again soon. In the meantime, please enjoy the recordings that are currently available.
